MELO EST GANGX ALBUM

Client: Gazo / Tiakola

Gazo and Tiakola are two prominent voices in the French rap scene, each bringing a distinct style to the genre. Known for his deep, dark tones and sharp lyrical style, Gazo contrasts with Tiakola’s softer, melodic approach, creating a unique dynamic in their collaborative album Melo est Gangx. The album’s mood captures the contrasting yet complementary styles of both artists, blending lightness and intensity to create a sound that’s both haunting and uplifting.

Creative Direction:
For this project, I focused on the theme of Sombre Mélodie, a fusion of the two rappers’ aesthetics—Gazo’s dark, edgy style and Tiakola’s smooth, uplifting sound. This vision shaped both the visual identity and logotype, inspired by gang-style typography seen in U.S. street culture. The logotype combines sharp, angular elements with organic curves to reflect the fusion of the two artists' worlds.

Art Direction & Photography:
To convey this duality visually, I curated and collaborated with a photographer, directing the shots to highlight the theme of fusion. We used techniques such as morphing, blurs, distortion, and noise effects, with vibrant colors that remain grounded in a darker mood. Additionally, the flower we can find here and there is subtle but significant visual element, serves as a nod to “Fleurs,” the first track Gazo and Tiakola collaborated on, symbolizing the origins of their partnership.
